WCAN is a professional development and networking organization dedicated to the advancement of women of color in the Bay Area. In March 2000, WCAN was founded by a group of women with the vision to help women of color realize their maximum potential in the workplace. One impetus for forming the organization was a study, Women of Color in Corporate Management by Catalyst, a New York-based research and advocacy organization. WCAN has a community of 1,100 women of color and their allies. We offer monthly professional development workshops, networking events, volunteer recognition events, a community awards gala, and an annual Fall Forum which offers tips, tools and strategies for success, and attracts over 300 women of color, leaders and influencers from the Bay Area and beyond.
